On Tuesday, December 12th at approximately 11:35 PM, Forest Park Police were called to the 1000 block of Circle Avenue, a residential neighborhood. Several residents were reporting “shots fired.” Responding officers located numerous bullet casings in the street and on the parkway. Further investigation revealed at least 24 shots were fired into the two-flat at 1021 Circle Avenue. Although numerous bullets entered the home through walls and windows, there were no reported injuries. Detectives are presently conducting an in-depth investigation, working with the landlord and scouring the neighborhood for further witnesses or any video footage that might shed some light on the identity of the offenders in this reckless shooting. The occupants of the first floor told police that they were watching television when the windows, ceiling, walls and the television were all struck by bullets. A witness reported hearing approximately ten shots and observed a “younger M/B running to a black/dark 4dr sedan that was stopped facing N/B in front of 1020 Circle.” Detectives feel that this is not a random act of violence and are working to establish a motive.
