Truck Enforcement

The Forest Park Police Department currently has three officers that are certified by the State of Illinois as Truck Enforcement Officers. These officers enforce laws that regulate weight limitations and equipment on commercial motor vehicles. The officers use portable scales, enabling them to weigh suspected overweight trucks on site.

Enforcement of overweight trucks helps in many ways:
• Reduces the number of overweight vehicles on roadways within the Village
• Contributes to reducing costly roadway damage
• Increases the safety of other drivers
• Illinois Department of Transportation research has shown that one overweight truck can cause the same amount of damage to the roadway as 9,600 passenger cars
