The village of Forest Park provides crossing guards for 10 corners throughout the village to ensure the safety of the children attending both public and private schools. Crossing Guards are present before and after school, as well as at lunch time. Village provided safety equipment is required to be worn for visibility and so children may identify the guard.
Each crossing guard must pass an interview and extensive background check in order to be considered for this position. Many of our guards are local residents who are stay at home parents or retired residents looking to supplement their income. It also gives an opportunity to stay active in the community and become a role model for the children.
