The Forest Park Auxiliary Unit is a volunteer organization whose main purpose is to support the police department when additional manpower is required. The unit started out as a Civil Defense organization during the 1960’s and evolved into an auxiliary police unit as the needs of the village changed. Forest Park currently has 25 auxiliary officers in the unit.
Auxiliary officers are utilized for all village events and are trained in traffic/crowd control. Officers also conduct foot patrols in the Madison Street Business District during peak times and assist citizens and business’ with calls for service.
